NYC based artist James Gallagher–known for his striking, layered collages–brings his one-of-a-kind style of portraiture on the road. With a knife, glue, and scraps galore, Gallagher cuts loose gestural portraits of event participants with a focus on fashion and style.

I’ll be sharing how I create one-of-a-kind clothing through handweaving. I usually work with three different kinds of looms, and I’ll be bringing one to the site. Visitors will be able to see the loom up close, touch it, and watch how my work comes to life.

In the spirit of promoting a circular fashion system, we will be offering light mending + embroidery all weekend long in the HVSFW tent! You can bring items needing a little TLC, (missing buttons, has a hole or a stain, etc.) and we will help give them a new life. For same-day service, kindly drop off your items by noon, and we'll have them ready for you by the end of the day. If you have an item that doesn't need mending, but you want to give it a fresh detail, we can add a little embroidery detail.



Price ranges from $10 - $30 depending on the intricacy of the embroidery.
